Lisa and I decided a tangible marketing tool would complement and further her online advertising, and this is still a region where a paperback book and a beach chair are the preferable reading implements. My photography from the Rosemary Beach neighborhood implies a coming home scenario, which is hopefully compelling to some of our city-dwelling visitors who are in the market for a home purchase. South Walton Turtle Watch Logo

Once in a while an opportunity for a logo design comes along in which you are blessed with a trusting group of people who allow you the freedom to design and art direct the project. The dedicated volunteers at the South Walton Turtle Watch group were these trusting people, which I thank, especially my friend Richard who walks the beach every morning, devoted to protecting turtles.

I was fortunate to witness some baby turtle releases; rescued baby turtles released at night under the protective watch of the SWTW volunteers. Seeing the husky baby turtles race to the gulf waters in the moonlight, to begin their journey, is magical and inspiring.

I admit I picked up Castle written by J. Robert Lennon because of the effectively curious cover design. The Stephen-King-sounding novel was the victim of its own inventive powers, choked by the uneven branches of its forest (burial) plot. Lesson: Only Stephen King can do Stephen King.

Eden Gardens Weddings & Events

The Friends of Eden Gardens contacted me to re-design their wedding and event brochure for a more sophisticated audience. The venues in the area have become increasingly upscale and competitive, but there are few comparable to the authentic Southern charm of Eden Gardens. I designed a logo for the group’s marketing efforts and took some sunset photos for the brochure highlighting their “wedding tree”. With their recently constructed paver courtyard, amazing azalea gardens and new brochure I’m sure they’ll have a successful season!

This past Sunday we went for a 60-mile bike ride, down Scenic 30A and out to Panama City Beach. On the way back we stopped at Fonville Press for iced caffeine to help fuel our trip home. Any place that promotes literature, “Read ~ Live”, has my vote.

A fun project plus healthy, glowing skin! What more can you ask for? I designed the Eternox logo and packaging for skin care company, Therapon Skin Health. They wanted an elegant, clean and sophisticated logo to represent their new wrinkle reduction system. Free samples of their products were the best creative inspiration ever, which has made me a total believer. Now you know my skin regime secrets!

Bread & butter

Many days are spent working on my “bread & butter” accounts, the not-so-exciting work that you never hear about when you’re studying and dreaming about your glamorous career in graphic design. I’ve learned over the years to appreciate and be grateful for a nice warm plate of whole wheat web banner bread and melting buttery charts and graphs. Bring it on!
