Some generous friends made their home in Oregon available a few years ago, and I painted a watercolor of their house as a thank you.

Using the watercolor method of “tea, milk & honey”, I used the lightest wash to create a foundation. Subsequent layering brought out the mid-tones and a bit of “honey” on the focal point around the doorway. Altering the dark landscape which was shaded by towering evergreens, into a brighter scene, more closely matched the cozy mood felt in the interior of the home. I revisited a few basic tenants: keep your water clean, let your paper completely dry and there are no mistakes from which you cannot recover!
